Course Information

Please ensure that you read the below information carefully.

All courses are subject to having sufficient learners to make the courses affordable. A £50 deposit is required to book your place on the course with the outstanding balance payable 7 days before the start date. When course numbers are too low, we will notify you 7 days in advance and book you on the next available course in your area.

You should be aware that failure to follow any requests may result in yourself being unable to participate in the activities without refund.

All students are required to bring valid ID to ensure their identity at the beginning of the course. Two forms of photographic ID are required such as Drivers License, Passport, SIA License. All students must also bring two forms of ID for proof of address such as utilities bill, bank statements, phone bills which must be no longer than 3 months old from the start date of the course.

All courses may require a practical element so all applicants must bring clothing suitable for physical activity including trainers. All jewellery must be removed, covering the jewellery is not allowed.

Students are required to complete the medical questionnaire overleaf. Those with medical conditions must produce a certificate from their G.P authorising their attendance on the course. Failure to produce a certificate will result in your course being delayed or cancelled.

All courses lead to recognised qualifications. Our tutors are available for additional support throughout your period of study. We strongly advise that all students come prepared for each module by arriving at least 10 minutes early bringing with them a notepad and pens. Students are advised that additional materials such as course textbooks would strongly help them during their study and these can be purchased directly from TGS Security Specialists. All specialist equipment will be provided by TGS Security Specialists.

Your readings are essential not optional. Complete your readings before and being prepared to answer questions. Learning this way means you continually learn and reinforce your knowledge so that when assignments and exams come around study is not a major drama and you have learned things in a more permanent way than cramming the night before. It also allows your class to spend time discussing the interesting and challenging aspects of the material rather than wasting time recapping the content and facts.

Attendance is required. It is required because in many classes you will be assessed on your class participation, which includes reading and responses to the material, listening and responding to other students and your tutor. The awarding bodies stipulate a minimum number of guided learning hours which are time spent with a tutor or trainer.

Follow the assessment rules. Make sure you hand material in on time and keep a copy of all material handed in. You will also be asked to attach an assignment cover sheet to anything you hand in. This sheet requires you to sign a declaration that it is your own work - that is, that you have not committed plagiarism. You are required to keep a copy of any assignment you hand in should it get lost and needs to be re-marked. Don’t lose marks for presentation and citation.

Show respect for your fellow students. We also expect the normal codes of polite conduct to be followed - courtesy to others and respect for them as human beings.
